Welcome to our Essentia Gourmet Salon homepage!

You reached the website of Essentia Gourmet Salon and Goose Liver Shop.

Our Gourmet Salon was opened in 2015 with the aim of finally getting the famous Hungarian foie gras the recognition and special attention it deserves on the shelves. Using our 10 years of experience in the field of foie gras sales, we have developed our offer so that every nation that visits us can find a foie gras product close to its taste. It fills us with pride that we were able to select the products we consider to be the best among the foie gras products of several Hungarian manufacturers.

In addition to the traditional products of the manufacturer with a 120-year history, you will also find free foie gras products that meet the new requirements. Another specialty of our salon – and the eternal companion of foie gras – is the magical wine specialties of Tokaj. During our tastings, we present several types of foie gras and the matching Tokaji wines to our guests. In addition to the 6- and 5-puttony aszús and late-harvest wines, you can also find the unique Eszencia here.

Our offer is enriched with Hungarian truffles, caviar, pálinka and other accessories that may be necessary for a perfect taste experience.

Our shop is located in the heart of Budapest, at 9 József nádor tér in the 5th district, next to brand stores such as the Herend Porcelain Palace, the Zsolnay Porcelain brand store and the Ajka Kristály brand store. Get to know these Hungarian gastronomic specialties in person.

We look forward to welcoming our guests to our Salon!

KEEP: Foie gras is an important part of the gastroculture of several countries, a national value that must be protected and preserved for posterity. Although only a few countries are allowed to produce foie gras – which at the same time supply the entire market – preserving our gastronomic heritage is important not only for these countries, but for the whole world. To protect this, France and Hungary, for example, put foie gras at the top of their national value pyramid, thereby proving its importance.

FEEL: Tasting foie gras is synonymous with the “umami” feeling. In the early 1900s, Professor Kikunae Ikeda discovered that in addition to the four basic tastes (sweet, salty, sour, bitter), there is also a mysterious fifth taste, which he named “umami”. Although this name was not officially accepted until 1985, foie gras has always been one of the dishes with its unique flavor that this term covers. Foie gras cannot be described with the four basic flavors, “umami” is what is the hallmark of this special taste experience.

SHARE: Offline and online orientation and communication of information has never been so widely available. Nowadays, we want to get more information about almost anything, we have a huge amount of data at our disposal. However, few people know about foie gras. The website aims to change that. In addition to educating the visitor, i.e. providing more information about foie gras itself and its history, we also present the products from a professional perspective, and at the same time, we also encourage them to share this experience with others. In this way, the knowledge of foie gras can reach people who have not heard of it before.

Perhaps these 3 words could be formulated in one sentence:

„Our mission is to introduce as many people as possible the gastronomic miracle that has been preserved for thousands of years and to share the “umami” taste experience that foie gras means.”
